Some of the inequitable opportunities for women in business will be addressed with the appointment of the Theresa Gattung Chair of Women in Entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneur, businesswoman and feminist Theresa Gattung is putting her money where her mouth is by funding a $2.5 million university-based centre to foster women in entrepreneurship.

She's one of New Zealand's most recognisable business leaders. But by her own admission, Theresa Gattung is not invincible.

In a year when the world came to a standstill and businesses were teetering on the brink of closure, some women-led businesses backed by the generosity of Kiwis have thrived in a pandemic.

"Tend are challenging the status quo and giving New Zealanders greater control over managing their own healthcare. I've been incredibly impressed by the calibre of the team and their vision of making a difference to deliver quality health outcomes," Bogoievski said.

“If we had transparency it would make it so much easier for women to see what they were worth and ask for it.”

The catalyst for funding was the support she received from SheEO, a community of “radically generous women” supporting entrepreneurial women.

“I believe right now in the world, the heroes are not the wealthiest people.”

On November 5, 2020, Theresa Gattung (along with Helen Clark) spoke at a fundraiser for CCT - "NZ and the World After the Pandemic".

All proceeds from this event will go to the Cambodia Charitable Trust to support their humanitarian response by providing emergency food for struggling families and learning materials for school children.
